The Yadio.FM Podcast Logo Project

At first, I just wanted to have a podcast. But then I thought, when I publish it on different platforms, it should have a logo. That’s how I ended up designing the Yadio.FM podcast logo. But that’s not the whole story behind this logo. First, let’s talk about the importance of choosing the right name, as it plays an undeniable role in the longevity of a brand or creation. This is how I arrived at the name Yadio.FM.

The reason I included the .FM extension in the podcast name is that FM carries a nostalgic feeling, reminding us of FM radio waves. Also, since .FM domains are relatively expensive, fewer people are likely to purchase them, making it a unique choice for the website and brand name. Additionally, having the brand name and website address be identical was very important to me. All these factors led me to this name, and fortunately, the domain was available, so I purchased it.

But it wasn’t just about the domain availability. Radio has a nostalgic essence for all of us. Podcasts are essentially modernized, time-adapted versions of old-fashioned radios. So, choosing a name that blended the concepts of radio and podcasts was crucial for me. In Persian, “Yad” (یاد) means memory or remembrance, and combining it with radio led to the creation of Yadio.

Additionally, the letter Y resembles a microphone stand, which made designing the logo even more exciting. I selected a smooth, rounded font and refined it in Adobe Illustrator, adding subtle details. I modified the letter “d” by merging it with a musical note (eighth note) to enhance the musical essence. And finally, the letter “o”, which I absolutely love because of its versatility in design—I replaced it with the image of a vinyl record to further emphasize the audio theme.

Since I was committed to keeping the podcast name identical to the website name, I integrated an equalizer pattern with the letters “FM” to ensure the domain extension was part of the logo. I also added rectangular equalizer bars beneath some of the letters, anticipating the need for a future teaser video, where these details would come to life in animation.

In the end, the Yadio.FM podcast logo was complete, turning into something I’m truly proud of. To see the full version, click the link or the image, and you’ll be able to view my podcast logo on Yadio.FM. Thank you!
