The project “An Old Romantic Story” is not just about sound editing. However, I decided to challenge myself by narrating in a language other than Persian for the first time.

The story is about Dr. Taher Sabahi, the owner of a museum called Ghalibaf in the city of Turin. He has authored numerous books on carpets and rugs, some of which have been translated into international languages. An Old Romantic Story is essentially a documentary film, and in parts of the film, you can hear the narration performed by me.

The project was shot with two cameras in just two hours. My dear friends Leila Heidari Fard, Anna Paola Francavilla, and Miriam Mancuso assisted me with the filming. I developed the main idea for the documentary myself and turned it into a storyboard. I also consulted extensively with Dr. Sabahi to refine the approach. Dr. Sabahi, who had participated in many interviews for various documentaries, was instrumental in making the two-hour filming session possible.

For this project, we used compact Rode microphones for on-location sound and a Rode Procaster microphone along with a Behringer U-PHORIA UMC204HD audio interface for narration, recorded in Adobe Audition. Recording in the crowded dorm rooms was challenging, but the outcome wasn’t too bad.

The initial editing was done in Adobe Premiere, with color grading completed in Davinci Resolve. The result is this film, which you can see on this page. I hope you watch it to the end. The final part of the film combines Iranian music with the museum’s atmosphere, which, in my opinion, is very beautiful and harmonious. I hope to create even more engaging documentaries in the future.

Of course, my work in sound editing is not limited to this project. I have handled the sound editing for all my projects. I also have experience producing podcasts for Arona, an Iranian company active in the field of Animal and poultry feed. The podcast was essentially the audio version of the company’s internal publication. I hope to gain more experience in this field in the coming years to produce more comprehensive projects.

On this page, you can also find the 2D animation project “Big Sir“. During my studies at the academy, I worked on the sound design for Big Sir as part of a sound design course. Some of the videos I produced had multiple aspects. For instance, the Big Sir animation project was presented for the “Animation Techniques” course, while its sound design was part of the “Sound Design” course. A similar situation occurred with the project An Old Romantic Story, where the video was used for the “Editing Techniques” course and the sound for the “Sound Design” course.

In the 2D animation Big Sir, there are sections where the character Big Sir speaks. To achieve this, I had to design various beak shapes corresponding to different phonemes. Initially, it was a challenging task, but I managed to complete it. I applied a similar technique using Blender by creating Shape Keys for different mouth positions for the character in my thesis project.

Overall, I have a strong passion for creating podcasts, editing background music for films, and even dubbing characters, and I greatly enjoy this work. In the future, I plan to update this page with more examples.
